Adult Chamber Music Workshop

About

Are you looking for a way to play music with other people? Do you already play in a group that is looking to develop your chamber music skills or looking to have a more structured or intensive experience? Did you know that playing chamber music develops skills akin to living life in harmony with others? If any of these things resonate with you this class is for you! You will:

  • learn the skills of great chamber music playing: listening, watching, adjusting, being sensitive and being flexible
  • learn to integrate these skills while you play as a team
  • work with a well matched group at your level
  • play some of the greatest literature in classical music
  • have fun being part of a small, but intimate team

Groups can be preformed or I can match you with other players of similar level. You can choose one of three program offerings, see dates for the 2022-23 season below. I will send out your group assignment and music at least 2 weeks before the first coaching Students must learn their individual parts thoroughly before the first rehearsal so we can concentrate on chamber music skills.

Testimonials

"A heightened awareness of the need to listen is just one of the many things I gained from being coached by Colleen. Some other things I learned were how to tease apart a work, how to look for cues that will be most helpful, how to work slowly, carefully, and thoughtfully, how to not give up hope, how to take whatever time is needed, how to work on transitions, how to be positive and supportive, and how lying on the floor for ten minutes is enormously helpful."
