Chamber Music Class



Are you a musician? Do you ever wish you could be part of a musical team? Do you prefer chamber music to solo or orchestral playing? Did you know that playing chamber music develops skills akin to living life in harmony with others? If any of these things resonate with you this class is for you! You will:

  • learn the five skills of great chamber music playing: listening, watching, adjusting, being sensitive and being flexible
  • learn to integrate these skills and observe and comment on them in other groups
  • work with a high level and well matched group
  • coach with a seasoned professional who makes her living playing and teaching with a professional string quartet that tours the world
  • play some of the greatest literature in classical music
  • have fun being part of a small, but intimate team 

The class includes 9 coachings (one per week). One of these will be a 2 hour group masterclass with other groups. The class culminates in a final performance open to the public. We will aim to learn 1-2 pieces from contrasting time periods. The class will be held between the weeks of January 6 - March 24, 2019 (exact dates TBA and individual sessions made by appointment). Coaching is open to preformed groups as well as individuals looking to be matched with an ensemble. Cost for the class: $390. Early Bird Pricing (due a week before the start of the course) is $370.
